RED Electrical - Solar Panels in Eccleston, Lancashire - A Case Study

Roof facing south west
Case Study
This customer already has some solar thermal collector tubes on his house roof. He wanted to add solar photovoltaic panels to the property, but due to the lack of roof space remaining we instead looked at the roof of his detached garage.
Overview
The garage has a pitched roof which has a south west face. The roof construction is interlocking concrete tiles. The pitch of the roof is 30°.
The Roof Equipment
The array was designed in landscape format to get the most from the roof space. Twelve 200W panels were used in three rows of four.
The Electrical Equipment
An EverSolar 2000GB inverter was selected for this installation. Installed in the garage, the equipment is pictured below:
The existing supply to the garage was not suitable for adding in the solar PV system, so we installed a new cable from the meter box to the garage. This was mainly clipped to a hidden part of a garden wall, then buried underneath the tarmac path. The cable terminates at a weatherproof consumer unit dedicated for the solar PV system, which in turn is connected directly to the meter tails.
Annual Yield
Total annual yield from system = 2004kWh, worth around £870 per year.
